The Finance Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the organization’s financial operations by processing transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. This position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in accounting software, and the ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Processes accounts receivable transactions by thoroughly reviewing and correcting accounting and financial records for accuracy.
- Assists in preparing financial reports within the accounting and finance system, following instructions from senior staff.
- Maintains, updates, and retrieves financial data from the financial database and system with precision.
- Applies fundamental accounting principles and techniques to analyze variances, prepare journals, and execute routine accounting tasks.
- Performs accurate accounting computations, identifies discrepancies, and resolves errors promptly.
- Manages high volumes of financial data to ensure effective storage and retrieval methods.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Strong administrative and clerical skills, with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
- Collaborative team player capable of thriving in deadline-driven environments.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and QuickBooks, with the ability to manage large volumes of financial data effectively.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills to meet deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
- In-depth knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting procedures, with a keen ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- High level of focus and attention to detail to ensure precision in financial tasks.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma required; completion of business or accounting courses beyond high school, such as an Associate’s degree, is preferred.
- Two to three years of relevant financial or office experience required.
- Proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software, with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Access.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Requires sufficient manual dexterity for typing and computer-related tasks.
- Needs adequate visual acuity to view and interpret reports and navigate computer systems
- Occasionally involves bending, reaching, climbing a step stool, and lifting.
Environmental Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to and utilization of computers.
